Joe,

What operating system(s) are you using for your NetBackup master server, EMM server, and media server?

What make and model of tape library and tape drives are you using?

How are the tape library and drives attached to the media server?

I Remember reading somewhere Symantec suggests to upgrade to 6.0 first and the to higher version,

that's has nothing common with reality

I had completed more than 20 upgrades for our clients during last year and usual Symantec recommendation is to upgrade using latest version and latest patchset (this is reasonable because of constant improvement in the NBCC and nbpushdata programs).

What is the exact error message?

Can you give us an output of /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbrbutil -dump
at the moment when this problem appears?
