Label issue NBU6.5.2A on VMWare ESX 3.0.1 and LTO3 drive

Hello there,

I have the following issue, maybe you guys could help me on this.

The situation is as follows:

VMWare ESX 3.0.1 server with a HP LTO3 Ultrium drive connected through SCSI.

On the ESX server a virtual machine with Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2.

Installed on the windows server is Netbackup 6.5.2A.

Configured in NBU is the LTO drive as a standalone device with drive type HCART3.

I have created new volumes in the Volume Pool "Day" with the name DT01, DT02 etc.

When i insert an empty (new) LTO3 cartridge and uses the Label optionwith rightmouse click on the new volume it creates a new label for me on the tape.

Here is the status log from the activity monitor:

19-11-2008 17:03:03 - begin Label19-11-2008 17:03:03 - started process bplabel (704)19-11-2008 17:03:04 - requesting resource Day:DT0319-11-2008 17:03:06 - awaiting resource Day:DT03 A pending request has been generated for this resource request. After the label process i expect that the Recorded Media ID should be visible in the Device Monitor.

When i use the vmoprcmd command after the label process i get the following output:

DRIVE STATUSDrive Name Label Ready RecMID ExtMID Wr.Enbl. Type Host DrivePath Status=============================================================================LTO3 No Yes Yes hcart3 dclfs1 {2,0,15,0} AVR DRIVE STATUSDrive Name Label Ready RecMID ExtMID Wr.Enbl. Type Host DrivePath Status=============================================================================LTO3 No Yes Yes hcart3 dclfs1 {2,0,15,0} AVR

As you can see there is no Label.

I use the latest drivers for the tape unit from HP StoragWorks.

Any suggestions anyone?
