Hi All,
most of discussion is about MSEO to tape drives, I am getting rid of tapes and use disk storage for all backups, I have 11 remote sites and want to encrypt all data from remote to local sites, and they are all disk data, can I use MSEO either on replication data or duplication data over WAN link?

MSEO is the specific prototcol for getting NBU to encrypt data to tape.  I think what you want to do for your 11 remote sites is use NetBackup 7 Client Side Dedupe (and enable encryption)

You can backup these clients over WAN links (as slow as 56k) in a deduplicated fashion, directly to the local site
Or
You can backup these clients to a local Media server, and then replicate that data (again in a dedup fashion) back to the local site

Because the data is deduplicated at the client, you gain several benefits:
  • Whole file is not sent over wire (only unique blocks)
  • Encryption happens on the block of data, not the file as a whole
  • Lower WAN utilization
  • Others, which may or may not apply to your situation.
