IPC Error: Daemon may not be running

Please help me out how to Start/stop  media manager daemons manually  & rpc .

Thanks,
Aravind.

One thing that historically has stoped the MM daemons from starting is when there are no drives for ltid.

First you need to troubleshoot why the MM daemons didn't start?

- set verbose 5 in vm.conf

- under /usr/openv/volmgr/debug/ create the following directories if not present:

daemon
robots
ltid

- restart the netbackup once again and check the above logs for errors.

- post the log at the specific time you restarted the services.

Which version of NetBackup are we troubleshooting here and on which O/S?
Whatever the O/S and NBU version, please add this line to vm.conf:
VERBOSE

After this, Media Manager messages will be logged to syslog on Unix servers and to Event Viewer on Windows server.

The OS is seemed to be Unix
Try
/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/ltid on the media server

Please take note that your problem looks like the issue described in a technote
