Media missing in bpmedialist, however showing OK in nbemmcmd

Hello,

I'm having a problem with NetBackup. Actually the problem started when we replaced one tape drive, I had lots of problems to remove it from NetBackup after it was removed. Finally I could remove all drives and the library, and then I added everything again. After that, I still had to switch the cluster on my media server, now everything's working, except for bpmedialist, which lists only 2 tapes on the clustered media server, when in fact there are for sure more media assigned to it.

My setup is:

Master Server - 6.0MP4 non-clustered on Windows Server 2003
Media Server - 6.0MP5, cluster of two Windows Server 2003 nodes. The name of the cluster is "mtl-fs1-nb".

This environment was recently upgraded from 5.1MP5, but it was working fine after the upgrade. Yes, I ran nbpushdata on the hosts on the correct order (at least I think I did).

If I ask bpmedialist to list the media assigned to the media server, this is the output:

C:\>bpmedialist -h mtl-fs1-nb
Server Host = mtl-fs1-nb

id     rl  images   allocated        last updated      density  kbytes restores
vimages   expiration       last read         <------- STATUS ------->
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
000290   2      1   11/23/2007 05:11  11/23/2007 05:11   hcart     1727662     0

              215   12/14/2007 05:11        N/A           FULL

In particular, if I ask bpmedialist about media 000146, it says that it's not on the EMM database:

C:\>bpmedialist -m 000146
requested media id was not found in the EMM database

However, nbemmcmd lists the media correctly, and says the Media Server for it is mtl-fs1-nb, which is correct:

C:\>nbemmcmd -listmedia -mediaid 000146
NBEMMCMD, Version:6.0MP4(20061102)

After the problem I had when replacing the tape drive, I ended up messing up with lots of things until I got it to work again, so I'm thinking I probably did something that ended up corrupting some database used by bpmedialist.

Does anyone have an idea of what can be going on? What can I do to diagnose the problem better?

Thanks!
Filipe

Hi,

I think you should open a case with Symantec, this sounds like a DB migration issue, but deffenitly you DB's are mess up.

Sorry.

Did you ever get a solution to your problem?  I'm having difficult changing the expiration date of imported media.  I keep getting the "requested media not found in EMM database" ... however I can restore & duplicate with the problematic media.  Kinda wierd.
