Media server Load Balancing and failover

Hi All,

As per Symantec NBU 6.5 there is a feature "Media server Load Balancing and failover" where during backup if one of the SAN media server (A)(configured for SSO & Media sharing) failed the backup is takenover by another SAN media server (B) with latest checkpoint.

But in my environment it doesnt work, if one of my SAN media server (A) fails the backup gets hang instead to continuing from latest checkpoint from another SAN Media Server (B) which is my MASTER Server.

Environment Details:

NBU on all Servers:- 6.5.3

Master Server:- Windows 2003

Note: My Master server is acting as a SAN Media Server (B).

SAN Media Server (A) & (B): windows 2003 & configured with SSO & Media Sharing is done between two servers.

Library: HP MSL 6030.

Can any one help me how to configure "Media server Load Balancing and failover" or its only work with Shared Disk OR Advanced Disk option?

Thanks & Regards,

Sandeep

Hi Sandeep,

Yes you are correct. This feature will work only with SharedDisk storage.

Here is the technote that will explain it better:
