Do I need to uninstall the NBU 7.0.1 completely and start as fresh installation for 7.1.

The installation guide says to remove netbackup from UNIX machines... is that so. Can't I overwrite the existing the version since its a minor release.

The upgrade process will have you uninstall your current software and ask you if this removal is being done as part of an upgrade. You will answer yes to that question and your current configuration will be saved. Doing a fresh install on a the master will initialize an entirely new netbackup environment... Follow the upgrade instructions to the letter and you will have no problem.

The only place in the Guide where we talk about removing NetBackup is where we talk about removing old 6.x packages from Solaris servers before upgrading to 7.x.  Are you seeing something else?  What page is it on?

If you're going from 7.0.1 to 7.1, you shouldn't have to do any removing at all, since you don't have any Solaris to worry about (and even if you did, anything which might have to be removed would be caught by the install script and you could take care of it then).

Missed that too.  Somehow I read 7.1.0.1 to 7.1.0.3  blush

You are correct Chris..  I see that the upgrade procedure has changed with the version 7 install scripts for a variety of platforms.. Thanks for pointing that out.
