Hello,
We have a problem with our NDMP backups. The jobs are failing with status code 99. The same jobs were running fine earlier. No changes have been made which would cause this failure. Below is the detailed status.

NDMP backup failure(99)

Netbackup master server : 6.5.4
Netapp filer version: 7.3.1
Master server acts as medias server for NDMP backups.
Could any one please help resolving this issue?

Andy,
Initially we had one policy set up to backup snapshots of all 9 Vfilers. This went well for more than a year. since this issue raised, I created  three different policies with three different timings. first policy is configured to backup 5 snapshots. second to backup 3 snapshots and third to back up single snapshot. Still failing.

As David pointed out it was an issue with his environment, maybe you are suffering the same?

As a matter of interest we only ever run a maximum of 3 streams from any one filer at any one time (we've only got 4 drives anyway, but that's besides the point!!) but have never had an issue (except a performance hit).

NEW_STREAM
volume_1
NEW_STREAM
volume_2
NEW_STREAM
volume_3
etc etc etc

over several policies & maximum jobs limited per policy.

Could also be:
 /vol/vol0/etc/log/backup

Bl**dy typo got in there somewhere & all I've done is continue using it!!!! blush

Doing too much today, need to go home & put my feet up.

As nefarious quite rightly says, the file should be /vol/vol0/etc/log/backup   (if I could underline that I would, in triplicate.......)
(EDIT: incorrect posts editted to include the correct path)

(I did get it right earlier tho' !)

I am currently running a dump of a volume to tape by-passing NB.  Will post with an update.
Andy,
I have set up a policy with 3 streams. It goes like this.
Poliy name : SAN1
Job names under SAN1 policy:
/vol/profilesvol/.snapshot/hourly.0/
/vol/usersvol/.snapshot/hourly.0/
/vol/groupvol/.snapshot/hourly.0/

Hello every one.
Thanks for all your reply and responses. I am happy to write that issue has been resolved and backups are running successfully from past one week.
We upgraded ONTAP version to 7.3.3 from 7.3.1. This was not recommended by Netapp. We upgraded as part of our regular updates. I believe this has resolved the issue. Since the upgrade all SAN backups are running fine. It is a Netapp issue. Eventually problem is fixed by upgrading the ONTAP version.

Thank you all again.

Regards,
Yash
