NFS & Portmap on Media Server

Gyus,

After installing Network File Service on the media Server I went to CMD to start the Portmap service but unfortunate I got the following error

c:\>net start portmap
System error 5 has occurred.

Access is denied.

c:\>sc config portmap start= auto
[SC] OpenService FAILED 5:

Access is denied.

I know that Portmap used port 111; this port is not used by any other application

Regards,

If it's 2008 you need to start the service as administrator.

Start - command promt - Right click -"Run as administrator"

Is it Windows 2008, did you open the command with "run as administrator"?

Please share all the steps that you have performed up to this point? (As well as info requested by Andy, Nicolai and Riaan.)

I did all the tasks in order to GRT backup to the new Media Server which is

  • Install Network File System services.
  • Disable the NFS Client from Services.
  • Disable the NFS Server from Services.
  • Run CMD as Administrator then type " Net start Portmap " & " sc config portmap start= auto".

Media Server installed in top of Windows 2008 R2.
