Hello,
I am sure this has been asked many times, but I am confused over when the Archive bit gets cleared on a Windows client.
I have set up a test folder c:\test that contains 2 files test1.txt and test2.txt. I did a Full backup. Both files were backed up and the Archive bit cleared (confirmed by doing a dir /a:a). I then performed a Cumulative Incremental backup - both files were backed up again. I then performed a Differential Incremental backup, again, both files were backed up, so I had 3 copies of the files in backup.
Now I thought that on a Full backup, the Archive bit gets cleared, so when the Cumulative and Differential were done, they should not have backed up anything at all, so I am confused as to why these 2 files got backed up again with the Cumulative and then again with the Differential.
I have a very faint memory of there being a technote that described this, that this only worked when there were a minimum number of files in the folder?
Many thanks,
Richard.
