Netbackup 6.0 with SAS tape drives Solaris 10/09

I'm trying to migrate the above environment (MP5) to SAS using LSI SAS 9200-8e HBA connecting to a Tandberg T40. Solaris can see the drives which it defines as /dev/rmt/44 & 45 with the correct WWNs.  I've tried sg.build all -mt 50 -ml 3 followed by the sg.install etc etc, but no dice with sgscan. I'm beginning to suspect I need to add manual in entries in sg.links; but could be well wide of the mark with that one. That's why I'm here :) Anyone able to give any guidance on this, please?

Are these the only tapes on the system? If so

cd /dev/rmt

rm -r *

devfsadm -i st;tapes

ls -l ?                <<<post this one's output
