Hello,
We Have MSL6030 connected to SAN and we use Vertias NetBackup 6 backup Software
We try backup over SAN and speed is average 20-30Mb/s
and backup over a 1Gbt LAN and speed is average 25-32Mb/s
As I know Ultrium 960 max speed is 80Mb/s
Where I need check the bottleneck?
I try deferent backup types: files, exchange, sql db, and always speed not more than 30 Mb/s
Library and Drives has latest firmware and NSR E1200-160 full updated and NB6 is MP4
Thare is no perfanase problem on Server
I check Drive speed witch HP L&TT
System speed results
DAS Disk:
Scanning
D:\speedtest - Files Read: 4
2273 MB read (4 files) in 35 seconds with rate 64 MB/sec
TOTAL: 2273 MB read (4 files) in 35 seconds with rate 64 MB/sec
SAN Disk:
Scanning
F:\speedtest - Files Read: 4
2273 MB read (4 files) in 25 seconds with rate 90 MB/sec
TOTAL: 2273 MB read (4 files) in 25 seconds with rate 90 MB/sec
also I run HPtapeperf, ultrium writes at 90Mb/s.
All HBA connected to 2Gb SAN
I try Ultium Device drivers both provided by HP (WHQL Drivers) and VERITAS Device Drivers,
Where or how optimize Netbackap to write at maximum speed?

Guys! I install Veritas NetBackup 6.0 MP4 on RHEL4U1, connect to same SAN, and configure RHEL to use my MSL6030, and now speed is not limited on 25-30Mb, now its depends on disk performance!
So, reinstalling NetBackup on Linux solve my speed (bottleneck) problems.
What Symantec Tech Persons think about this?
Its some Windows SCSI miniport driver limitation or what either other...

touch /usr/openv/netbackup/db/config/NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERSecho "32" > /usr/openv/netbackup/db/config/NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS
should tune it up. 64 could work as well.
Depending on which document you read, the number may or may not have to be a power of two. We have another site running at 24 and it works.
See documents number 236103 and 183702.
