This is a Netbackup 6.5 64bit Master, with a Dell PV136T library with 4 LTO-3 drives.

The first three jobs start without a problem, but the fourth reports this:

11/24/2008 10:35:02 AM - requesting resource caen-nbms-hcart3-robot-tld-0
11/24/2008 10:35:02 AM - requesting resource caen-nbms.NBU_CLIENT.MAXJOBS.lec-db
11/24/2008 10:35:02 AM - requesting resource caen-nbms.NBU_POLICY.MAXJOBS.lec-db
11/24/2008 10:35:02 AM - awaiting resource caen-nbms-hcart3-robot-tld-0
Reason: Drives are in use., Media Server: caen-nbms,
Robot Number: 0, Robot Type: TLD, Media ID: N/A, Drive Name: N/A,
Volume Pool: Winstore, Storage Unit: caen-nbms-hcart3-robot-tld-0, Drive Scan Host: N/A

Anyone seen this before?

Check for the following:

1. Maximum Concurrent Write Drives: Option-> In your Scenario caen-nbms-hcart3-robot-tld-0 StorageUnit Must be set to 4 ( to allow backups to use all 4 Drives)

2. Check whether any one of the Drive is Down !

Let me know the OutPut !!!

None of the drives are down, and all storage units are marked as having 4 drives.

Check whether Drive Type for All Drives are in same Type

According to the Devices -> Drives screen in the GUI all drives are HCART3 and are TLD.

Try to Recreate Storage Unit and Check !

This problem should be because of the following

1. Maximum Concurrent Write Drives: Option-> In your Scenario caen-nbms-hcart3-robot-tld-0 StorageUnit Must be set to 4 ( to allow backups to use all 4 Drives)

2. Check whether any one of the Drive is Down !

3. Check whether Drive Type for All Drives are in same Type

As of My Knowledge above should be the problem !

After deleting my robots and drives and recreating them and the storage units I now get this on attempting any backup:

11/24/2008 2:12:09 PM - requesting resource caen-nbms
11/24/2008 2:12:09 PM - requesting resource caen-nbms.NBU_CLIENT.MAXJOBS.aon001
11/24/2008 2:12:09 PM - requesting resource caen-nbms.NBU_POLICY.MAXJOBS.aon001
11/24/2008 2:12:09 PM - Error nbjm(pid=2520) NBU status: 800, EMM status: No drives are available
resource request failed(800)

I think Problem persist in the storageunit - check all attributes in the storage unit ( Like:Media Server, Storage Device)

I have the same issue with netbackup6.5.1, A bug fixe that may applies to your case. It is corrected in NBU6.5.2A

Confirm you STU can use 4 concurrent drives

bpstulist -label <stu> -U

Confirm your schedule under the policy is configured to use 4 concurrent jobs, and if you want to run a multiplexing job you need to check this under the policy also.
