Netbackup 7.1 Backup issue

srikanth09

Hi team,

We have implemented NBU 7.1. We have 1 standard master server and 12 standard clients. SL500 tape library with 2 tape drives. All the servers and clients are connected via FC.

There is one client whose backup is failing because the size of a filesystem is around 6 TB. Since it locks up the tape drive for backup, other backups are also failing. So now we have disabled the policy for that client. So other backups are running.

For the client with 6TB data, we have planned to buy an enterprise client license and configure the client as media server so that backup can be completed fast(over FC). We are not in a position to buy more tape drives, so that option can be ruled out.

My question is:

Will 1 enterprise client license be enough for resolving above issue?

Do we require enterprise server also?

Please suggest if there is any other feasible method to successfully backup this client

Thank you for your support...

Regards

Sri

All components are same. Neither you have to reinstall client or server . Just get your LICENSE KEYS upgraded to ENTERPRISE

It's all license key which plays role

Get in Sync with your sales/account manager for license keys.

Enterprise Client license is needed, but you will have to upgrade Master's license to Enterprise Server.

No Media server(s) can be added with NetBackup Server license....

Enterprise Client is a SAN Media Server doing its own backups (plus some other functionality).

1 Enterprise Server SKU - Upgrade NBU Master Server CAL from STD to Enterprise

1 Enterprise Client SKU - For LANFree or SAN based backups

SSO  - For Sharing of Tape Drives.

This should be enough to acheive SAN based backups

SSO can be multiplied in number of drives you would be sharing to SAN media server

Thank you very much.

I have another question, currently we are using Standard server and standard client, is it possible to upgrade from standard to enterprise directly or do we have to install and configure enterprise from the begining. Please provide if any documentation is available for configuring/upgrading to enterprise server and client.

Thank you for the support
