Netbackup 7.6 licenses for LDoms

Hi ,

currently we have 2 SPARC T4-2 servers each one contain 4 VMs "formerly Logical domains LDoms" . all OS on these VMs are solaris 11.1, beside that there is Oracle database 11g and Oracle RAC installed on 2 VMs  .

also there is separate x86 server for master server and tape library with 2 tape drives connected to master server via FC . and backup is taken over LAN not SAN.

We need to buy Symantec netbackup 7.6 for to backup this environment . so what licenses needed to cover this environment ?

does we need only one netbackup client for each T4-2 server  regardless of the number of OVMs so the total clients will be 2 or what?

please advice .

Your 2 SPARC servers need 1 Cross Platform Standard Client each and 1  (Tiered) Application and Database pack license for Unix each. Regardless of amount of VMs, zones, etc.

The x86 Server will need (tiered) NetBackup Server for Win/Lin/Solx64 license and 2x Library based tape drives.

If you are planning to add Media servers or SAN Media servers (Enterprise Client) at a later stage, you need to purchase NetBackup Enterprise Server license for Master/Media server.

Best to discuss licensing needs with your local Symantec reseller.
