Netbackup Client 7.5.0.6 MSI / Client Installation Files

Hi,

I have just recently upgraded our Netbackup Master and Media servers from 7.1 to 7.5.0.6.

I am now planning on deploying the 7.5.0.6 client software to update our client machines via SCCM 2012, however I currently only have the 7.5 GA client source media / MSI and the 7.5.0.6 update files so will have to script a silent install of the client followed immediatly by the update.

I would prefer to deploy the 7.5.0.6 client software directly but cannot find the source MSI or download for this. I have found a 7.5.0.6 client for Windows 8 / Server 2012 but the documentation says this is not for other types of machine just 8 / 2012 only.

Is this the only way to deploy 7.5.0.6 client or is there another MSI somewhere I have missed?

Hello,

We dont have MSI packages that you can use. D.flood would be correct.

The recomended method is to use live update.

I'm sure that the Symantec reps will chime in here but for as long as I've been using it (since 5.x timeframe) the upgrades have always been "on top of the base version" rather than "doesn't require anything previously installed".

Having to two-step it really irritates my Admin Group also.  But I'm not sure there is any way other than two installs (silent or otherwise).  Oh and even though the documentation doesn't say it, the Windows client (at least for me) seems to not work right until the machine is rebooted post-install.

Ok thanks for clearing that up.

One quick question.. with Liveupdate is each client expected to go out to the internet to get the latest update by itself or can it get the update data internally?

No. LiveUpdate needs you to configure a server as LU server (can be the master), download the packages and create an update policy to schedule client updates.
