Could someone help me out with a local ubuntu install of Netbackup client? I am running ubuntu 8.10 and have already install the following packages
xinetd
libxp6
libxt6
libxtst6
When i run the install script I get the following error
Installing NB-Java.
gzip: JRE.tar.Z: unexpected end of file
/bin/tar: This does not look like a tar archive
/bin/tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
tar failed unbundling JRE.tar.Z. Aborting...
Failure extracting java files.
A failure was detected running /NB_65_CLIENTS2/NBClients/anb/Clients/usr/openv/netbackup/client/Linux/RedHat2.6/cp_to_client yyyy xxxx
Apparently the JRE.tar.z file in the installation media was a null repository so I copied the equivalent file from the Redhat2.4 folder to the 2.6 folder and reran the installation script and it worked. Problem solved.
Please be aware that even though you have it working now, if you ever need support on this client through Symantec support, they will not support it due to it not being listed in the compatability guide.
