Hi All,

I have a query related to Netbackup Licensing.

We have 4 Windows 2008 R2servers. We have 1 Exchange server, 1 Active Directory and 2xfile servers.

Also we have Ubunto server and Unix server (Oracle Database) with 1xHP MSL Tape drive.

We also have 2xHyper V servers with 2xSQL database running on windows 2012

We are looking for Netbackup solution and also SAN backup only for 1xExchange and 1xfile server.

How many licenses do we need?

Thanks

You need to license the following on the traditional license model

The master / media (backup server)

Each libraried based tape drive requires a license

standard client license (backup across LAN for each server you mentioned except ones you want to use with SAN backup)

enterprise client license for each server you want to use with SAN backup

a database application pack for each application / database server (1 for oracle and 1 for exchange)

Please note prices are based on TIER

or on the terabyte model

xTB of platform base license (xTB equals the amount of data you have on your servers)

That is very simplified, contact your local partner to give a detailed quote.

Hi,

Can i use standard client and enterprise client in the same enviroment?

If yes, what version of server (Standard/Enterprise) should be consider when we are using Enterprise client and standard client?

As i need SAN backup only for Exchange and file server i assume we will need enterprise client.

But for those backup which we don't want to use SAN style can we use standard client?

Thanks

Standard client gives you backup to SAN tapes/disk via media server across LAN

Enterprise client gives you backup to SAN tapes/disk via media server across SAN

Enterprise client gives you backup direclty to SAN tapes/disk

So yes, you've understood correctly.
