Netbackup policy having UNIX & Windows as client + "invalid filelist specification(69)"

Hi,

We have netbackup 7.5.0.5 master server & having solaris and windows (7.5.0.5) as client.

In Backup selection we have /u01 from solaris and c:/temp from windows.

now our backup is failing with "invalid filelist specification(69)"

Is it possible to take backup from unix & windows client using single policy.

Please advice,

Thanks.

Rahul.

You need to create 2 different policies for Windows and Linux/Unix clients.

The SAME backup selection is applied to ALL clients in the Client list of the policy.
(This is described in NBU Admin Guide I)

So, create an MS-Windows policy for the Windows client and Standard policy for Solaris client.

It may be possible in some circumstances to back up both in a single policy, but not recommended & as you have found out prone to failure.

When you initially set up a policy, the first configuration item you look to set is the policy type - this determines the various directives that you can use as backup selections and these relate specifically to the operating systems in question.

Trying to set up a policy that contains UNIX clients with a backup selection of C:\.... and Windows clients with a backup selection of /filesystem just opens up a whole world of issues!

Hi,

Thanks for update.

Currently we have one policy which type is standard policy and having windows server as client and Backup is working fine.

Please advice,

Rahul.

Backup may be working fine, but you may have issues when you want to restore files with all Windows attributes that will not be saved with Standard policy type.

You can in any way not have Windows and Unix paths in the same policy.

As per my previous post, the entire Backup Selection will be applied to ALL Clients in the policy.

The only directive that will work for both Windows and Unix Clients is ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES.
