Netbackup server running on virtual machine

Is it possible to install NBU server on virtual machine? If yes, are there any limitations? Can we run on vmware virtual machine and RHEL's kvm ? Is it officially supported by veritas? can we connect tape autloaders to virtual machine?

Re: Netbackup server running on virtual machine

Support for NetBackup in Virtual environment is covered in the attachment to this URL: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000006177

Firstly go through General guidelines for support.

Media Manager Storage units (Tape library and tape drives) are only supported on virtual technologies listed in table 3 of the doc - Virtualization technologies supported for Media Manager storage units
KVM is not listed in this section.

So, you will still need a physical media server for tape library.0
