Netbackup upgrade from 6.5.3 to 7.0.1

Hello All,

Greetings.....

we are using Netbackup 6.5.3 and would like to upgrade to Netbackup 7.0.1.what is the upgrade options and how we can proceed?we do have a valid license contract from netbackup.how can we get the media?is there any documents available for the upgrade?

You can download 7.0 from FileConnect: https://fileconnect.symantec.com/

You will need the Serial number on your license certificate to download.

7.0.1 is a patch and can be downloaded from: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH139088

Thanks..Do i need to have a separate license for the upgrade?how can i know my level of support for the netbackup?

Symantec sends you an "Upgrade Notification" if your maintenance is up-to-date. Your local Symantec partner should send you an invoice when maintence renewal is due (some users take one-year maintenance when they purchase, others 3 year maintenance).

The upgrade notification contains a Serial number that will give you download links for 7.0.

You don't need new license keys for the upgrade, but you do need the new Serial # to download the software.

You need get the packs CLT, JAVA and 7.0.1 for your distribution (LINUX), or download the packs for Windows.

On the Master Server and Media Server

1 - Extract all of packs on the same folder and run the NB_update.install file. First chose the pack 7.0.1 and after chose the pack CLT and finally chose the pack JAVA.

On the client

2 - Run the same file NB_update.install and chose the CLT update Option on each client in the your environment.

Before you upgrade your master, make sure that you don't have any media servers below 6.5.3.

We ran into some major issues because we had a few remote media servers that were still at 6.0 MP6.
