Hello Folks,
Just a small query that, is Netbackup 7.5 Accelerator will work with tape backups ? Or it must need a disk storage ?
Media server will collect the information of chnaged bloks and backup id of the uncnaged blocks, then it will track the backup ids of previous backup. SO my question is that the previous backup images/IDs should be online that time ? it will online incase if it only a disk storage (Like dedup). And incase of tape backups, tapes will not be in the libdadry always and will be offsite. In that case will media server will track the previous backup information from cataloge ?
Sorry if i confused you.

To be more precise - as per Nagalla's excellent post - Accelerator will only work with supported dedupe storage.
Please see the HCL for NBU and OST Appliances that supports Accelerator: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76495

No. Since NBU 6.5, all read and write activities are done by the NBU bptm process. Disk and tape.
The bpdm process is used for the management/cleanup of images on disk.
