RE:Catlogue Backups

Hi All ,
 
I have configured Catlogue Cold Backups.And i can see it happen everytime after the job is executed.But when i look at the tape which i have assigned it doesnot show anything it shows (0KB)  written ,I have only 15 policies currently working .And the out put frm bpsynco is  # /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpsyncinfo -U

I am very much confused ,Are my catlogue backups taking place or not.Please help me.

which version of netbackup were you using? if it is above 6.0 go for hot catalog backup.

Most of the times, the bpsyncinfo command is reliable

One thing that you can try is run the following command:

bpmedialist -mcontents -m <media id>

This will create a job in the activity monitor. It will actually read the tape header to tell you if the tape holds something.

bpmedialist -mcontents -m <media id>  is showing nothing ? I am using netbackup 6.5

Hi,

If you are using Netbackup 6.5, then go for hot catalog backup.

For instructions on configuring catalog backup, you will find it in Admin Guide Volume 1.
