Hello Experts/GURUs,
Our one of the RMAN database job has failed and when we tried to get the help from oracle and have recommend us to follow the below documentation. We are using Netbackup 6.5.4 and can't upgrade any further. Our HPUX master server current version does not support any netbackup upgrades. If we implement the solution below will it affect any processes ???? Do we need to enter this command on the master/media server/?
Please let us know is it possible to implement the solution which has been described in following note.
Solution Description
--------------------
To resolve this issue, cd to /usr/openv/netbackup and as the root user enter
this command
$ touch NOSHM
This will force NetBackup processes to use sockets instead of shared memory.
Explanation
This error is explained in Veritas TechNote ID: 233087
Thanks All.

its looks like its from the Symatec.
please go ahead and use it... and it looks like you need to use this command in Media server.

Is your Oracle client also a media server? The NOSHM touch-file is only applicable on a media server when backing up itself.
Status 50 can also be seen when 'someone' has killed backups from cmd on the client with OS 'kill' command. Have you tried to find out if this is a possibility?

No, it is not.. the client is on a different host HPUX 11.11. .
No, the backup has not been killed. here is the trace file

You never told us the Oracle version?
Similar errors in this TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH77071
Hopefully the 6.5.4 EEB will help you.

Oracle 8.1.6. How does 6.5.4 EEB helps? if we are using currently NBU 6.5.4 and are receiving this error?
thanks

Have you had a look at the TechNote in my previous post?
I guess not.
If you did, you would understand why I asked about your Oracle version and why I mentioned the EEB.
