RMAN and Disk Staging

Has anyone successfully used Disk Staging with RMAN?
If so, how?

does the RMAN script need to specify disk or sbt_tape?

Hi ,
I think you do not have to chance to use disk staging directly from RMAN. You can configure DB backup policy for using disk storage unit. You can define storage unit only netbackup level.

When using "format sbt_tape", RMAN does not know where it's backuppieces are going. It's just giving them to the storage manager (i.e. NetBackup). In this case, you can use disk staging units.

If you prefer to have RMAN backup to disk directly, ("format disk") then the RMAN disk images are backed-up as standard files. In this case I'd recommend putting the RMAN backup script in a NetBackup bpstart_nofiy script, and archive them rather than back-up them.

Thanks. You were right.
It is supported.
Our customer was making all kinds of changes to their script (causing more confusion for us) when they only needed to change their policy to the DSSU storage unit.
