Hi Marianne van den Berg
When I restore vm. I received a Error 2817. I had read information from Symantec forum about
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO44491
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO51780
However, In Vcenter I seen a message the following " The device or operation specified at index '0" is not supported for the current virtual machine version 'vmx-4'. A minimum version of 'vmx-07' is required for this operation to succeed"
For the guide of Vmware. I had installed Vmware Vcenter Converter Standalone 5 on Backup host. After I restored vm again but not successful.
I don't know how to this fix error?
Please help me.

Hello,
First, you need Netbackup 7.1.0.3 to backup vSphere 5 VMs. Be sure that your Netbackup version is up to date.
Did you try to convert your VM's hardware to vmx-07 under your vCenter ? Most of advanced fonctionnalities of VMs backups under Netbackup needs to have a VM with last hardware (vmx-07). I am not an expert about VMs, so I can't help you more.
Regards.

The problem seems to be this error:
" The device or operation specified at index '0" is not supported for the current virtual machine version 'vmx-4'. A minimum version of 'vmx-07' is required for this operation to succeed"
It seems your virtual machine is at version 4 but needs to be at version 7.
I found discussions about this message on VM forums, but nothing with a solution.
As per previous post, please ensure that your NBU version is patched to 7.1.0.3: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH174256
Hopefully other NBU/VM experts like Mark and Stuart will be able to give more helpful advice....

Hi all
After I upgrade NBU 7.1.0.3 then I restored successful.
Thanks all.

Seems the error was a 'red herring' because of unsupported NBU version.
Please mark Gautier's post as Solution since he was first to mention 7.1.0.3.
