Hello,
How should a policy be created so that W2K12 dedup volume data can be backed up and restored?
I plan to back up the VM with VMDK policy also.
Thanks, M

Hello,
With NetBackup 7.6, we can backup a 2012 dedup volume. It will not be a optimized backup though. The policy would be a normal windows backup.
As far as vmware backups, you would want to make sure that vmware can quiesce the 2012 VM.

Deduped by what?

With netbackup 7.5.0.6 you can backup an NTFS deduplicated volume, but it will rehidrate the data.
With netbackup 7.6 you can backup the NTFS deduplicated volume without rehidrating the data. (At least that is what the "7.6 what's new" presentation say :) ) Of corce It will also support file restore.
for VMware backup with 7.5.0.6, GRT restore is not supported (file, SQL or exchange). It is not clear if the initial 7.6.0.1 (7.6 GA) will support it.
