Has your rman script a  backup control file command ?

Have seen this error when you have both a backup control file command and control file autobackup set on the Oracle database.

Another reason I have seen is timeout, because the control file job has waited in the Netbackup queue for a resource, which it seem to be in your case.

I would suggest to increase CLIENT_READ_TIMEOUT and CLIENT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT on the Oracle client

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

We need to see all details in the NetBackup job as it seems there was a media write error.

Hello Marianne,

Backup is running fine, But every time 2 or 3 child streams are failing with EC 6.

There should be more info in Details tab. It seems as if the 'current' piece of media filled up.
The 'Drives are in use' part seems confusing, but will probably be more clear if we can see the 'whole picture'.

It seems that the backup is failing because of insufficient resources mid-way through the backup - either media or tape drives.

Please tell us your NBU version - earlier versions had issues with the resource broker.

Ensure that bptm and bpbrm folders exists on the media server for further troubleshooting.

You need to upgrade as a matter of urgency.

NBU 6.x ran out of support in Oct 2012.
