Hi,
The volume pool is having tapes but still the slp is throuwing error 96, can you please suggest what steps to follow to look out.

Error 96 doesn't mean that you don't have tapes at all. You may have tapes in ACTIVE state with retention levels that don't suit your backup. Do you have any tapes in AVAILABLE state in the pool?

Please check the config for this particular SLP :
Which Storage Unit? (Check media server name, robot number, density)
Which Volume Pool?
Which Retention?
Now check output of 'available_media' (run from cmd in goodies folder on master server).
Check if there is sufficient media that matches the SLP criteria.
