Status 1 on UNIX client - cannot lstat?

WayneLackey

Environment:

Master: NBU 7.5.0.4 running on SunOS 5.10

Media: NBU 7.5.0.4 running on SunOS 5.10

Client: NBU Client 7.1 running on SunOS 5.10

Seeing the following errors for this client in the job detail (completing with status 1):

04/25/2013 08:45:18 - Error bpbrm (pid=9332) from client bkohsun2g: ERR - Cannot lstat view. Errno = 1: Not owner

04/25/2013 08:45:39 - Error bpbrm (pid=9332) from client bkohsun2g: ERR - Cannot lstat ccObjects. Errno = 1: Not owner

04/25/2013 08:45:39 - Error bpbrm (pid=9332) from client bkohsun2g: ERR - Cannot lstat Training. Errno = 1: Not owner

I'm not really knowledgeable on UNIX and how the clients back up - what does this mean?

Thanks,

Wayne

It means the OS does not have the permission to read the file meta data. This is should not occour under normal operation unless

  • The system uses ACL (Access Control List). You need to talk to a UNIX systadmin then

or

  • The client is a Solaris 10 zone. I found a tech note that's very old - it matches one of the error messages but not the Netbackup version you stated. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH87993

Netbackup does lstat to link the data.. in differential backup lstat used to search the file which have changed since last full or defferential backup.

ERR - Cannot lstat view. Errno = 1: Not owner

Means can not lstat-- some permision issue or Acess control list...

check the permissions of the file which is backing up.. go with bpbkar log having nore details about file if logs are enable...
