Do you have steps how to Step by step guide to importing a tape using the NetBackup 7.x GUI on different domains?  Meaning backup from domain A to import and restore in domain B.

Do i need to know and input media ID during phase 1 import?

Can you clarify "different domains"? Different n/w's or different NB environments?

Importing a tape from the same domain or a different domain - there is no difference.

(I am assuming that you are taking about a tape from one master/robot being imported to a different master robot)

To keep the tape save write protect it and when you inject it in the robot have it put in a special volume pool so none of your backups will try to use it.

JUST BE SURE IT HAS A UNIQUE BARCODE.  the tape you put into this different robot CANNOT already exist in this domain.

Then just do the phase 1 and 2 import.

Then you are ready to do a restore.
