Is the Shadow Copy Components directive the only way to get system state backups? It seems that this directive backs up a lot more data than another backup product we were using previously.
Also, is there another way of backing up Active Directory besides that Shadow Copy Components directive?

Hi,
If you want to get granular restores from your AD, the following set of directives should be enough:
Active Directory Application Mode:\
Shadow Copy Components:\
System State:\
ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES
For the GRT you have to install NFS service on the server and on the Media Server + enable it in the policy.
Cheers

There are sections on what each directive backs up & also AD granular backups & recovery.
e.g. ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES includes Shadow_Copy_Components which in turn includes System_State.

We did also find that there is a lot more data to backup for 2008 SCC cf earlier O/Ss.
