Status IMPORTED is added to tape that did not contain any data known by NetBackup at the time you imported them.

This means they were not visible through commande : bpmedialist -U

Status IMPORTED is an artificial status added to these tapes to protect them from being removed/deleted/formated.

If the phase 2 of importation has been processes, the images re-injected in catalog determine the expiration date of the media, thus the date and time it will be unassigned, sent back to scratch pool, and seen as ACTIVE again (that would be AVAILABLE from available_media script). An image initialy created with a retention level of 6 months will give the IMPORTED image a 6 months new life starting at phase 2 date.

If phase 2 was not done for any image phase 1 has found on the tape, you just have to wait 1 week, and it will be unassigned ... going back to ACTIVE/AVAILABLE status (and scrath pool ....)

If you don't want to wait, you can still use bpexpdate -d 0 -m MEDIAID for any media IMPORTED.
