Moving from Netbackup 6.5.4 ( PA-RISC ) to Netbackup 7.0 ( Itanium )

Hello,

 

We have an existing master server with NetBackup 6.5.4 running on HPUX 11.23 on a PARISC machine. We are planning to get a new hardware that will server as a master server. We are getting an Itanium machine and will run HPUX 11.31.

 

Can the catalog move from PA-RISC to Itanium? What are my options so I can upgrade to a new machine, and run NBU 7.0 and still keep my catalog?

Perfectly supported: Use hot catalog backup and restore to migrate to new platform:

Migrate 6.5.4 to new platform, run for a week or so to ensure stability, then upgrade to 7.0.

Given the fact that Oracle has stopped development for the IA64 CPU there is a great deal of uncertainty of the HP-UX platform.

However Symantec seems to support 11.31 IA64 for at least the next major version.
