What type of robot (tape library) is it? You need to make sure it is supported and correctly connected to the server.

The robot, if it can be seen should be under /dev on the server.

It depends on what type of robot it is as to how we can advise on its setup

Start with these

Use the /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/scan command and look at what the OS can see

tpconfig -l

Lists you tapes and robots in the current netbackup config

Use the robtest command to communicate with any existing robots (see here for commands http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH83129)

How is it connected? Direct or SAN? If SAN does it have its own data path? Zoned in correctly?

You may need to explore the sg.links part of device configuration.
