VCB concurrency

Hi All,

As long as we have a our policies set up per datastore can we run that number of concurrent jobs? So if we have 10 VMFS and 10 policies we can run 10 VCB jobs at once (max job limit per policy will be set to 1 to start).  I keep reading that 4 or 5 is the max, but is that per proxy or per policy?

Hey,

Once you have them spilt out by datastore you will be limited by the size of your VCB proxy's tank - you could end up filling it up. I am currently running somewhere between 15-20 VCB jobs concurrently with a 1.3Tb tank on our proxy server. In my experience the snapshots never occur at the same time so we never experience this.

There will get to a point where you are saturating your media server / bandwidth / Virtual Centre, but 4 or 5 should certainly be no problem.
