Can you post the job log details too as this is not enough infomation.
Have you just upgraded to 7.0.1? The is a known issue when upgrading to 7.0.1 that is disabled the licenses and stops all vmware/BMR related backups from working.
Also this link has some other VMware related issues in that you might want to look at once you get this fixed....
From 7.0 its vstorage APIs. We have already applied the binary for the vmware and cault bug after upgrading it to 7.0.1

Looks like some sort of access issue to the disk or datastore. Are there any existing snapshots on the VM? Are all the datastores presented to the backup host? what OS is the netbackup server? does the snapshot create on the VM when doing the backup or does it fail to even create the snap? has it ever worked?
We need more info on this. Might be worth creating the bpfis log dir so we can see exactly whats happening
I'm having the same issue:
Are all the datastores presented to the backup host? - Yes, I only have two datastores.
What OS is the netbackup server? Win2k8 R2
Does the snapshot create on the VM when doing the backup or does it fail to even create the snap? - Successfully creates and deletes the snap
Has it ever worked? - Works on some VMs but always fails on the same ones and appears to be in the same place on each attempt.
And strangely appears to happen on servers with databases (SLX, Exchange, SQL)
