Hello Forum,
Trying to backup a windows 2003 32 bit client through NBU 7.5.3 / Solaris 10 MASTER/MEDIA.
Getting error code 58 consistently.
I have already checked bpclntcmd -pn, -self, -hn from both client and Master/media end.
All r working fine.
On testing the client connectivity through bptestbpcd -debug -verbose -client XXX following was the output on the master server.

client is not behind any firewall...
Check for Windows firewall on the client and ensure it is turned off.
Did you create bpcd log folder on the client before trying bptestbpcd?
We need to see if anything is logged in bpcd during connection attempt.

hi,
did you check netbackup client services are running on client services.msc?
Do you have the Firewall or anti virus enabled?
if you please turn of and check els try to add the bpcd, vnetd, and pbx port to firewall exceptiton rules. and check.
if that does not work..
please provide the below outputs
from master :-
ping <client name>
nslookup <client name>
grep <client name> /etc/hosts
bpcltncmd -hn <client name>
bpcltncmd -ip <client IP>
from client:-
bpcltncmd -self
bpclntcmd -pn
bpclntcmd -hn <client name>
bpcltncmd -ip <client IP>

What version of NBU you are running on client? What all services you see on client. If client is 7.x
The error message certainly shows it might be service stopped. It should have Netbackup Client, Netbackup Legacy, Netbacup legacy network and symantec private branch. Make sure all the services are running.
Also when you do nslookup hostname and nslookup FQDN does it resolve. Make sure it should resolve for both of them. If it doesn't just add the name what get resolved.

Hello Marianne,
You got it right...Windows firewall was on and was creating problem.
I have turned it off and taken backup successfully.
Thanks
