WRN - Removable Storage Management: unable to export database (WIN32 21: The device is not ready. )

Hi all,

I need some help with this.

We have recently implemented Netbackup and although reasonably smooth are seeing a few issues.

One issue is the reporting of

WRN - Removable Storage Management: unable to export database (WIN32 21: The device is not ready. )

This is happening for a few of our Servers only.

I have seen a few posts on here related to this but none are particluarly clear if NEtbackup uses RSM in anyway or what should be done exactly.  Is anyone able to shed some light on this.  We currently have 6.5.1 agents installed on our Servers.

RSM for ALL Windows NetBackup Clients/ Media Servers/ Masters

1. Set RSM service to Disable
2. Add the following line to all Windows Clients Exclude List for All Policies/All Schedules

NtmsData

Reason to add above line is you might have upgraded a server from Windows NT to 2000 and the Windows may be in C:\WINNT
This line covers all instances OR similarly

C:\*\system32\NtmsData

3. If after this still get errors then you need to perform maintenance on DCOM configuration

This is for all policies.  The RSM service is also stopped and set to manual for all boxes.  Any ideas?

I have RSM disabled on a (W2K3) 6.5.3.1 client, and excluded C:\Windows\system32\NtmsData\*  I still get the error, and the backup hangs for hours, then completes with status 0.
WTF>>>>What the Flagnog??
