Weird Backup Problem

Puffy

I have a client that has problem backing up. The backup job will take forever. I even let it run continuous for 72 hours and the backup is still running.

- Tried backuping up different partition/folders to see whether this is the problem. Found that C:\  Drive is okay. Some folders in D:\  folders are fine. But others will take forever.

- Tried using Windows 2003 native backup utility. Did a full backup with system state and everything. Backup to another network location. Successful in all tries.

- Tried changing between VSP and VSS in netbackup master server for this client. Both yield the same problem.

- Has defrag the D:\ partition before testing backups.

Wonder anyone has encountered such an odd problem and how do you troubleshoot this? Not sure what the reason since c:\ drive is okay with no problem but netbackup has problems with some d:\ folders. But native backup works for both drive.

Thanks!

I have had this 2 differnt times

one was it was a DFS server

and one was when the entire drive was compressed.
