backup of one storage group in exchange 2007 is failing

I have different policies for each storage group " database " in exchange 2007 and the backup of all of them is going fine except one storage group which is failing with error

7/7/2015 5:02:57 AM - Error bpbrm(pid=15240) from client mbx.domain.net: ERR - Terminating backup.

7/7/2015 5:02:57 AM - Error bpbrm(pid=15240) from client mbx.domain.net: ERR - failure reading file: Microsoft Information Store:\Storage Group 03\Mailbox Database 03 (BEDS 0x0:

file read failed (13)

and at the same time in the exchange server it's showing the following errors

Instance 1: The physical consistency check successfully validated 13163670 out of 16973616 pages of database '\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy46\Mailbox\Storage Group 03\Mailbox Database 03.edb'. Because some database pages were either not validated or failed validation, the consistency check has been considered unsuccessful.

Any solution?

Two possible options:

One

  • Bring this info to the Exchange admin, there is a structural issue with Mailbox Database 03 database. Netbackup will not backup a exchange database not able to pass the consistency check. There is nothing you can do to fix this from the Netabckup side.

Two:

  • VSS quota size issue on the Exchange Server
  • http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH136986

Please note that active copy option in backup policy is working fine. But when choose passive copy and if not available active copy it fails.
