bpdbm -consistency 2 will give a Memory fault(coredump) in NBU V5.1

Dear all,

I used to perform bpdbm -consistency 2 in Netbackup V5.0 with no problems.

Recently I have upgrade to V5.1 with MP5 installed. I tired to run bpdbm -consistency again but this command will cause a memory fault(coredump).

May I know why?

Thank you.

Dear Wong,
I guess you are running a file system greater than 1 TB on a file system 3.5.

Please do apply a MP1 patch for the file system 3.5 as mentioned below

This problem is known to occur only if all following conditions co-exist:
- File System 3.5 is being used on a 32-bit or 64-bit Solaris (7.0, 8.0, 9.0) system
- VERITAS Volume Manager (tm) is at version 3.5 or later
- The file system is built on a Volume Manager volume using Volume Manager 3.5 or later
- The file system is larger than 1 Terabyte
- The file system or an application read a data or metadata block located past the first 1 Terabyte region in the file system. The data can be corrupted even if the file is opened for read-only, and/or the file system is mounted as read-only.

Issue resolved at version: File System 3.5 Maintenance Pack 1 (MP1) or later releases

WM,

If this error is happening on s UNIX box then

find the core, it's in the slash or the directory that you ran the command in.

do

strings core | more

look at the fisrt 40 lines of the core file and you will see what is making it core.

You should upgrade to 5.1 or higher too.
