configure bmr boot server on sparc solaris10

Hi there!

I'm trying to configure bmr boot server on solaris 10 sparc server.

Only things that I've found in any docs, that's all I need is bootparams, tftp and nfs preinstalled. I've already installed netbackup client on server, registered it as bmr boot server, created SRT and everything of this already appeared at netbackup console on master server, and proper configutations appeared in /etc/dfs/sharetab. (/vol01/SRT      -       nfs     rw=all  srt)

Problem that I've faced with is configuration of tftp and bootparams, there is no detailed or usefull info I could found in internet. I installed this components but I really don't know how to configure them (

ok, my SRT is located in /vol01/SRT/sunos

What should be added to /etc/bootparams and how should be configured tftpd?

This is not a BMR configuration issue as BMR only requires these components to be installed/enabled. No specific configuration changes are required to be done for configuring tftp or /etc/bootparam as BMR will automatically configure these for a particular client during it's Prepare to restore BMR operation.

Once you have made sure that the required components are installed correctly, you should go ahead and try to do the prepare-to-restore for your client. You will notice that BMR will make the required configuration changes that are required to restore the client.

Let us know if you face any issue while doing bmrprep (prepare-to-restore) for your client.

I've tried to prepare client for restoration and then got an error:

1) I've tried to use nfs configured by netbackup /etc/dfs/dfstab (share -F nfs -o rw=all -d "srt" /vol01/SRT), tested it from another server and got

(-bash-3.00# mount -F nfs storage:/vol01/SRT /mnt

nfs mount: mount: /mnt: Permission denied).

2) Then used dfstab like (share -F nfs -o rw -d "srt" /vol01/SRT), with this one I was able to mount nfs shares from other servers, but still had the same error with preparation to restore.

I have 777 for /vol01/SRT and folowing running processes of nfs:

bash-3.00# svcs -a | grep nfs
online         13:51:30 svc:/network/nfs/status:default
online         13:51:30 svc:/network/nfs/cbd:default
online         13:51:31 svc:/network/nfs/nlockmgr:default
online         13:51:34 svc:/network/nfs/client:default
online         15:02:43 svc:/network/nfs/rquota:default
online         15:43:00 svc:/network/nfs/mapid:default
online         15:54:01 svc:/network/nfs/server:default

separately mounted /tftpboot with 60G of space, and 777

Also i've found https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/error-v-126-3-bmrprep-could-not-complete-requested-op... but nothing from there fitted to me. Every time I have the same error.

Please check bmrd logs on your bmr boot server to know exact error. Please turn on debug logs to level 6.

Thanks.

NFS share will be configured by NetBackup while prepareing client recovery.
Try to remove unshare SRT directory and remove it from /etc/dfs/dfstab.

After logs examination, it seems like problem is in interface configuration of  client which I want to restore.

I have 3 configured ip addresses with 2 ethernet interfaces on client,  client and boot server don't use dns server, just /etc/hosts, where addresses of client were configured, added 3 addresses for 1 hostname.

config for client in /etc/hosts of boot server:

172.27.141.12   signalling12
172.27.141.15   signalling12
172.27.141.16   signalling12

with configured ethernet interfaces on client configuration (current, default config)

After removing of 172.27.141.15 from ce0, finally I have successfull preparation for restoring. Will see how it will treat network configuration after recovery of client.
