error 20 wen launching flashbackup in a physical drive server

Hello,

I have a Windows 2008 server with a 5TB disk that contains 1.733.974 files.  I had backup configured as a normal physical backup, but it took that much time that I changed it to flash backup Window just for this disk.

Server has backup selection configured with the disk like this:  \\.\E:

When launching the backup I received a 20 error: (20) invalid command parameter, and the log shows the following;

27-jun-2014 7:49:00 - Critical bpbrm (pid=6588) from client xxxxxxxxx: FTL - Invalid snapshot method VSS

[I have tried all snapshot methods and I received always the same error]

27-jun-2014 7:49:00 - Critical bpbrm (pid=6588) from client xxxxxxxxx: FTL - process_fs_list() failed, status 20

27-jun-2014 7:49:12 - Critical bpbrm (pid=7996) from client xxxxxxxxx: cannot open C:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\online_util\fi_cntl\bpfis.fim. xxxxxxxxx _1403848128.1.0

[I have check during the backup that the file is created in the path and deleted as well]

Can someone help me to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance

Setup the bpfis log on the client so we can see what bpfis is saying - just create the directory:

\program files\veritas\netbackup\logs\bpfis\

Re-run it then when it fails post the log (as an attachment please)

Where is the storage actually held - i am assuming it is on the SAN so what type of storage etc.

I have seen issues when held on things like an Hitachi SAN that has its own snapshot provider that causes a conflict.

Can we also see the output of these from the client:

vssadmin list providers

vssadmin list writers

Thanks

I've already follow TN http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO50366

This is the output of vssadmin list providers

vssadmin 1.1 - Volume Shadow Copy Service administrative command-line tool
(C) Copyright 2001-2005 Microsoft Corp.

Provider name: 'Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0'
   Provider type: System
   Provider Id: {b5946137-7b9f-4925-af80-51abd60b20d5}
   Version: 1.0.0.7

vssadmin list writers are all Stable and With no errors

We will still need the bpfis log as mentioned by Mark.
