error code 6- Vmbackup failure (virtual backup host)

Hi,

Netbackup Master/Media server version 7.5.0.6
OS : windows server 2008 R2, 64-bit
Backup host : windows 2003 R2, Netbackup 7.5.0.6 , virtual machine.
transport mode NBD

I newly configured snapshot backup for vmware, it is failing continuesly with error code 6,

ERR - Error opening the snapshot disks using given transport mode: Status 23

anyone guide me to fix this issue.

since you are using the NBD transport..

did you verify the communication between the backup host and ESXi host with the port number 902?

there should be a proper communication over the port 902 between backup host and ESXi host.. make sure the is avaliable

are you saying your backup host is Virtual machine as well?

Yes port 902 is open on all esxi hosts.
I noticed that the backup does not work on a cluster ESXi. job on the standalone esxi server was successful.

if you have ESXi cluster , you need to make sure backup host is having the communication with all ESXi in cluster over the prot 902.

if you are still seeing the issue even after good communication over port 902

enable the vxms log and run the backup , once the backup got failed collect the logs and attached to this post for further review.

issue fixed,

There is no entry on backup host in host file some Esxi server fqdn and short name.
