i would like some advice/best practice for backing up 4 exchange 2010 servers running on VMWARE.
There are 2 parts - the exchange level backup and the Server/OS level backup
I think i have the exchange level backup covered,
We have 2 sites and each site has their own active and passive copy of the databases and a passive copy located at the remote site.
We have a seperate master / media server setup at each site running netbackup 7.5
I am planning on using the exchange agent and backing up just the local passive copy of the database using the same site backup server
We have alot of redundancy already built in with exchange DAG configuration.
The second part of backing up the Servers/OS themselves i would like to use VMware level VADP backup, is there a best practice way to configure this to only snapshot/backup the OS and binaries etc and not the exchange information etc?
or do i need to do a agent level Windows backup and exclude the drives with the exchange information ?
