Hello All,

I have to create a new volume pool for one of the policy and assign a particular set of devices to it.

while creating it is asking for "maximum number of partially full media"!!!

Kindly put some light over it!!!

Thanks in advance!

It limits how many tapes in the pool can be used at once.

If for example it is set to one, only one tape can ever be 'partially full'.  That would mean NBU would start writing to the first tape, but until this is full, it would never start anotther, beacuse it is only allowed to have one tape that is partially full at any one time.  As soon as the tape becomes full, it would start another.

If set to say 3, then 3 tapes could be used at once, but until one or more become full, no more can be used, as x3 are already partially full.

THis can be used to stop NBU using many many tapes with only a bit of data on each, it's usually only an issue it you offsite tapes.
