netbackup appliance network configuration

NBU35
Level 6

Hi

We have a appliance 5240.
We want to configure it as Media server role, we need two different IP addresses for backups, which falls in following range.
10.*.*.* -- will be using 1G port from eth0 to eth3
172.*.*.* - will be using 10G port eth4 & eth5 in bonding mode.

both of these IPs will be used for backup traffic.

Now I want to have a separate Mangement IP, from which we can operate appliance GUI console. Preferably it should not be used for any type of backups.

Can you please let me know how to achieve it ?

If my memory servers me correctly you consumed all ethX ports on this appliance, right? or there are two more 10Gbps - use these for mgmt traffic. Also in now-a-days with client side dedup, NBU accelerator I am not seeing to much traffic on my NBU appliances... So not sure why you would need yet another IP... not sure why... Maybe you can take eth0 and put this MGMT interface there? I would have created bond0 on eth0,1,2,3 - on top of that laid down some vlans like your 10.*.*.* and 192.168.1.* for management purpose... same for eth4 and 5... bond1 and then put vlan on this interface.... by doing so you do isolate from SPOF on NIC end.
