netbackup\db\client directory

Hi, my master and media servers are NBU 7.1 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. We have two master servers in separate domains: one is prod master server, the other is DR master server.

Recently I found that in our prod master server, the installation\netbackup\db\client directory only has one folder which is for the master server. I checked the DR master server and found there are folders for each client in the installation\netbackup\client directory.

My question is:

Is it normal for the prod master server? Thanks.

This is fine.  There is no issue.

The 'client' directories if they exsist contain 'client attribute info' as created by the bpclient command/ or host properties in the GUI for example.

If no settings have been changed, then there will be no directory for the client.

For example, this dir on my master server is empty.

I went to the GUI > Host poperties > client > flump

I changed the value of the client read and the client browse timeout.

Now we see some conf files have been created :

root@womble flump $ pwd
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/client/flump
root@womble flump $ ll
total 6
drwxr-xr-x   2 root     root         512 Apr  2 11:08 .
drwxr-xr-x   3 root     root         512 Apr  2 11:08 ..
-rw-------   1 root     root           0 Apr  2 11:08 CO_0
-rw-------   1 root     root         262 Apr  2 11:08 host_info
-rw-------   1 root     root           0 Apr  2 11:08 OA_0

That is the customized 'stuff' that is added by going Master server Host Properties, Client Attributes, add Client name, select/specify parameters per client. One example is WOF settings. Without client names in this section, default settings are used.
