replicate from disk to tape

hi,

i wanted to replicate the backup data from disk to tape, created the SLP and manual run

got the below error.

You don't have media of the correct type the robot / pool specified in SLP duplication destination. Check SLP config and output of available_media script on the master server.

So, you have a tape library (robot ) with a couple of tape drives, right? Do you have tapes (media ) in the robot? Have you added the tapes to NBU by running an Inventory?

Do you have tapes in the robot?

You add them in NBU by running Inventory in Media section of the GUI.
If you want media to go to specific pools and not to the default NetBackup pool, you need to select 'Advanced Options ' once you have selected Update Robot Configuration, then add Barcode Rules.

If all of this is new to you, you may want to read the Inventory chapter (chapter 9) in NetBackup Administrator's Guide, Volume I .

You need Netbackup training  - there are free online classes to take. Netbackup can be complex until you understand the concepts

Please show us output of available_media again as well the SLP config:

nbstl <SLPNAME> -L 

We need to confirm media type (density) of the Storage Unit and Pool name in SLP duplication destination, and then check if there is media of the correct density in the required pool in the robot.

Tapes are defined as DLT - Should be defined has a HCART2 according to your earlier posts

Netbackup will compare DLT with HCART2 and say "no go" does not fit.

But tapes are defined as DLT. Correct densitype for the tapes to HCART2  and backups will work

You need to delete all DLT density tapes and create Barcode Rule to add new media as type/density hcart2.

Seeing that you need to start from scratch - you can see that NBU uses the last 6 characters as media id instead of the first 6. So, when you create the barcode rule, also add Media-id Generation rule to use 1st 6 characters. Details in the same Inventory chapter. Just remember that you need to delete the existing media first.
